George Attram scores for Selangor against Sarawak United
After more than two months of rest, the Premier League competition which continues today saw the young Selangor II squad surprise the leaders, Sarawak United by tying the match 1-1 at the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium.
The Selangor players launched a flurry of attacks and dominated early in the first half, but Sarawak’s experience disappointed Michael Feichtenbeiner’s men.
Selangor II’s best chance came in the 43rd minute through T. Saravanan, but his right foot shot was slightly off the edge of the goal post.
As Selangor II eagerly launched an attack, Sarawak responded with a long pass from Lee Chang Hoon from the middle of the field that arrived right at the foot of Uche Agba.
Agba did a solo run before deceiving Selangor II goalkeeper, Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman and easily pushed the ball into the goal.
The goal lifted the spirits of the visitors who almost added a second goal but D. Jayaseelan’s effort bounced off the right post.
Sarawak United’s advantage, however, did not last long when Selangor II as the host managed to equalise through George Attram’s penalty kick four minutes after the second half continued.
Nik Umar Nik Azizi almost had a chance to add Selangor FC II’s goal in the 82nd minute but his shot was blocked by Sarawak United goalkeeper, Mohd. Sharbinee Allawee Ramli.
Three minutes later, Chang Hoon had the opportunity to add Sarawak’s goal, but his volley from the left corner only hit the top of the net. Both teams remained deadlocked looking for a goal until the final whistle.
Sarawak remained at the top of the league with 24 points, two points ahead of Negeri Sembilan, while Selangor rose to fifth place with 16 points.
