Ghana 2021 AFCON squad: Five local players going to Cameroon with Black Stars for tournament
All five local players named in the provisional Ghana squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament have been included in the final squad.
The five players include Philemon Baffour, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Richard Attah, David Abagna, and Maxwell Nii Abbey Quaye.
They have been in Ghana’s camp in Doha, Qatar, in the last few weeks training under head coach Milovan Rajevac and his technical team members to prepare for the challenge ahead.
After assessment, all five players have been deemed to have enough quality to play at the upcoming tournament set to be staged in Cameroon in January and February.
They could be selected for Ghana’s pre-tournament friendly match against Algeria on Wednesday, January 5, 2021, in Qatar.
The game is scheduled to be played at the Education City Stadium in Doha to wrap up preparations ahead of the tournament. The Black Stars will kick start the tournament against giants Morocco on Monday, January 10 before taking on Gabon and Comoros in the other Group C matches.
