Ghana captain Andre Ayew among African trio dominating Qatari League
Ghana international Andre Ayew is among the three African players dominating in the Qatari Stars League.
Ayew joined Al Sadd in the summer transfer window after leaving Swansea City at the expiration of his contract.
He has hit the ground running since joining the club scoring 7 goals in 9 matches in the ongoing campaign.
The three African players dominating the Qatari League include Kenya’s Michael Olunga, Baghdad Bounedjah of Algeria and Andre Ayew of Ghana.
The Kenyan international arrived at Al Duhail last January on the back of a flattering reputation developed in east Asia.
The Harambee Star has not struggled to make his mark in the Gulf scoring 20 goals in the first 6 months. He already has 12 goals in only 7 league games at mid-season.
Meanwhile, Africa Cup of Nations winner Baghdad Bounedjah has been reigning over the Qatari scoring charts for several seasons.
Bounedjah joined Al Sadd 6 years ago and can boasts of 128 goals in 108 matches.
Two seasons ago, his 39-goal tally in a single season earned him the title of top scorer.
Others African players exceling in Qatar include Mali’s Check Tidiane Diabaté who has 6 goals for Al Gharafa, and Yohan Boli, the Ivorian striker who features for Al Rayyan.
