Ghana defender Alexander Djiku in action for Strasbourg in defeat to Angers in France
Ghana international, Alexander Djiku was in action for his Racing Strasbourg outfit on Sunday when the team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Angers SCO.
The defender earned his first start of the 2021/2022 French Ligue 1 season yesterday in what was the first game of what will be a very long campaign.
In his centre-back role, Djiku and his teammates excelled in the first half but goals from Ismael Traore and Stephane Bahoken in the second half meant that Racing Strasbourg lost 2-0 at the end of the contest.
The result however did not surprise the Black Stars defender. Prior to the game, he noted that it was going to be a tough game against a good side.
“Anger s, it’s a rough team that makes few mistakes. They have a solid and experienced central hinge with Thomas and Traore. The coach does not want us to play the game before and that we remain serene,” Djiku said before the game.
Next weekend, Alexander Djiku will be in action again when Strasbourg takes on PSG at the Parc des Princes.
