Ghana defender Gideon Mensah reveals Marcelo inspiration
Ghana international Gideon Mensah has revealed he grew up watching Real Madrid and Brazilian left-back Marcelo da Silva.
The enterprising left-back currently ply his trade for French Ligue 1 outfit Girondins Bordeaux.
According to the on-loan Red Bull Salzburg defender, the Brazilian international is the player who inspires him at his job.
“The player who inspires me at my job? Marcelo. In a four-man defense, it’s Marcelo. In a five-a-side defense, I don’t know, but … But when I was little, it was Marcelo that I watched all the time […] I can do both, side or piston, but it depends. If we play four, I have time to combine with the winger. But as a piston, that’s good too. I’m an attacking player so I can’t attack with five defenders anymore “he said.
Gideon Mensah will hope to make impact with his new outfit in the 2021/22 season.
