Ghana defender Portia Boakye sidelined for few months with knee injury

Ghana defender Portia Boakye has been sidelined for few months due to a knee injury, her club Djurgården has confirmed.

Boakye picked up the injury during pre-season and is expected to miss several games.

Her rehabilitation has gone well according to the plan the club has set up and has also been a bit at the forefront.

The 32-year-old has not played in this season’s women’s top-flight league in Sweden since it commenced early this month.

She moved to Djurgården in 2018 and has made over 60 appearances in the league, scoring one goal.

Boakye was part of the Black Queens team which competed in the 2014 African Women’s Championship qualification and the 2014 African Women’s Championship, playing in all seven of the team’s matches.
