Ghana focuses on World Cup qualifiers after Afcon disaster

Ghana turns their attention to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after a disastrous 33rd Africa Cup of Nations.

The four-time winners Ghana were knocked out of the group round after a 3-2 defeat to Comoros.

The newcomers took control of the game with goals from skipper El-Fardou Mohamed and Ahmed Mogni and were cruising until the 10-man Black Stars, who had captain Andre Ayew sent off in the first half, attempted a comeback.

The decisive goals for the desperate African powers came from Richmond Yiadom and defender Alexander Djiku. Comoros, however, were not finished and had one more surprise in store for their much-more famed opponents.

With four minutes remaining, Ahmed Mogni scored again.

After the game coach Milovan Rajevac speaking to the media stated that his main target was to qualify Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“I came to Ghana to qualify the team for the World Cup. That is my primary target. I will stay and lead the team in the March play-offs,” said Milovan Rajevac.

“I believe we have a team that can become stronger and get to the World Cup. I took this job with the aim of taking Ghana to the World Cup… This competition did not go well but it is a learning process for us.” he ended.
