Ghana forward Jordan Ayew equals father Abedi Pele’s 19 goals for Black Stars
Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew has equaled his father Abedi Pele’s 19 goals for the Black Stars.
The 31-year-old featured in the Black Stars heavy defeat to Japan in the Kirin Cup on Friday morning.
Ayew scored the consolation goal for the West African powerhouse as they suffered a 4-1 defeat in the Kirin Cup opener.
The former Swansea City attacker goal against Japan means he has equaled the number of goals he scored his father bagged for the national team.
Abedi Pele scored 19 goals in 73 matches whereas his son, Jordan Ayew has 19 goals in 80 matches.
He could surpass his father in subsequent games for the four-time African Champions.
Asamoah Gyan is the all-time topscorer for the Black Stars with 51 goals.
