Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan criticizes Fatawu Issahaku’s late substitution after Morocco’s defeat

Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has criticized the late substitution of enterprising winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku in Black Stars defeat to Morocco at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The four-time African Champions lost their game on Monday after a disappointing performance resulted in a 1-0 defeat against favorites Morocco.

Sofiane Boufal scored the game’s only goal in the 83rd minute as Morocco claim another win over the Black Stars.

Gyan, who is currently serving as pundit on SuperSports in his submission fumed at the late introduction of the Dreams FC star.

Issahaku climbed of the bench to replace Joseph Paintsil in the 86th minute, something which did not go on well for the all-time top scorer for Ghana.

“There was no urgency from the Black Stars. We wanted to catch the Moroccans on counterattack. I was expecting Issahaku to come on but it was late and it affected us. In games like this, you need to take your chances and win the game.”

“If you create the chances and fail to convert them, the fans will not be happy.” He added

The Black Stars will take on Gabon in their second Group C clash on Friday.
