Ghana vs Nigeria: Leicester City boss reveals Wilfred Ndidi’s injury in Rennes defeat ahead of World Cup play-off

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed Nigeria star Wilfred Ndidi picked up a medial ligament injury ahead of the crucial World Cup play-off between the Super Eagles and Ghana.

Nigeria will take on Ghana in a two-legged encounter with the winner of both legs qualifying for the World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

The Black Stars will play host to the Super Eagles on March 25, 2022 at the Baba Yara Stadium before the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on March 29, 2022.

A week before the clash, the Super Eagles have been handed Ndidi blow.

The 25-year-old had to be substituted in the 60th minute as Leicester succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at Rennes.

However, speaking after the game, Rodgers revealed that the midfielder may have damaged his ligament and could miss the Ghana clash.

“Ndidi has a blocked tackle, so it is his medial ligament and his knee, so we will see how that is,” Rodgers told BT Sports.

This comes as big blow for Nigeria who are keen to secure qualification to the World Cup in Qatar.
