GPL Preview: Dormaa hosts Aduana Stars-Asante Kotoko top of table clash
Dormaa will be the center of attraction this weekend in the Ghana Premier League when Aduana Stars host Asante Kotoko in a top of the table clash.
The Match Day 11 fixture takes place at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday with loads at stake for both sides.
Aduana Stars will look to maintain their top of the table status in he aftermath of this clash. They currently sit top of the league standings on 20 points, same as Saturday’s guests. The Ogya Lads are topping the league log by virtue of scoring more goals than the Porcupine Warriors, with the latter having played a game fewer.
The home side come into this game on the back of a 1 nil defeat to Medeama SC at Tarkwa last week. This result ended the their 7-match unbeaten run and Coach Asare Bediako will eye starting a new streak.
Asante Kotoko, after a perfect start to the campaign have not had a smooth run in their last five matches in all competitions. They come into this game, on the back of a painful FA Cup defeat to City rivals King Faisal (their second loss to them this season). Overall, Kotoko have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 during this period.
With goal scoring not really a bother, keeping clean sheets is, for Coach Prosper Narteh-Ogum’s side with just one shutout against opponents during this 5-game stretch.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs and WAFA gaffer will be keen to halt his side’s struggles and see them record more consistent wins.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ex-Asante Kotoko attacker Emmanuel Gyamfi has had a great start to life at Aduana Stars and will want to give his former side a taste of his new found form on Saturday.
Gyamfi has notched 6 goals and 3 assists in the games played and will be central to the home side’s attacking plans.
Asante Kotoko’s squad looks depleted with the absence of attacking duo Isaac Oppong and Fabio Gama.
However in their absence, Coach Prosper can count on the Cameroonian duo of Franck Mbella and Mfegue Omgba. Both have scored 5 of the club’s 6 goals in their last 5 games in the league.
Richmond Lamptey who is also enjoying his debut season with the Porcupine Warriors (2 goals scored) is one to watch closely.
The game will be shown live on TV courtesy StarTimes Adwoa Channel 247.
