GPL Preview MW18: Survival-Chasing WAFA out for revenge against Sensational King Faisal in Sogakope

The Second Round of the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League commences this weekend with the action taking place across the various centers.

The new chapter of the season will be officially opened on Friday when survival-chasing WAFA face King Faisal at Sogakope.

WAFA are currently 16th on the league table after ending the first round with a record of 4 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats after 17 matches. Overall, the Academy Boys accumulated 18 points which was not enough to see them leave the drop zone.

Surely, their form will worry Coach Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza and the young gaffer would want to start the second round well by recording a home win against Friday’s opponent.

WAFA’s home form is what has won the side the most points this season, recording all 4 of their wins at Sogakope. They have picked 15 of the 18 total points accumulated there and would want to make King Faisal their next victim.

Revenge will also be on the agenda for WAFA, following their early season defeat to King Faisal by a lone goal in Kumasi.

History also favors the Academy Boys, who recorded a win in a 7 goal thriller the last time King Faisal visited.

King Faisal finished the first round in the 5th position after accumulating 26 points from 17 games.

Per their standards, their overall performance has been good so far but the side will be concerned about their record in the latter stages of first half of the campaign.

King Faisal began the season with 3 straight wins but suffered a dip in form and could only win one of their last 6 games.

They will surely want to rediscover their mojo when they travel to Sogakope for this encounter.

Coach Nurudeen Amadu will draw inspiration from some captivating away results recorded this season.

The Insha Allah Boys posted away wins against Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko scoring 3 goals each in both games.

The Match promises to be entertaining and is available for viewing via StarTimes Adela Channel 247.

Kickoff is slated for 3pm GMT.
