GPL week 17 preview: Elmina Stars vs Bechem United
Match week 20 of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season sees struggling Elmina Sharks host Bechem United at the Nduom sports stadium.
The meeting is one between teams with completely different fortunes, with Sharks almost a certainty for relegation and Bechem United in firm position to challenge for a top four finish.
Match preview
This particularly fixture is expected to be a keenly contested one, with so much up for grabs.
Elmina Sharks will have no other option than to secure all three points on Sunday as a defeat will mostly likely confirm their place in the second tier of Ghana football next season.
They are currently at the bottom of the pile having picked up just 12 points from 19 games this season.
That accumulates to a Point Per Game (PPG) of 0.63 which is by far the lowest in the league this season.
With 9 points separating them and 15th place side Real Tamale United, a win will do them so much good.
Bechem United, on the other hand do not have to worry about relegation threat.
In fact, they have a far superior aspiration for the season as they push to secure a place in the top 4.
Currently in 4th with 31 points, Bechem United could leapfrog Aduana Stars for the second slot if they are able to secure a win tomorrow.
Form guide
Elmina Sharks have won just one of their last five games in the Ghana Premier League.
That win surprisingly came against league leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko, but they have been unable to produce similar results in the same period.
They have lost on three occasions and drew once in their last five games.
Elmina Sharks last 5 games
