Hertha Berlin manager Pal Dardai reacts to Kevin-Prince Boateng fitness

Hertha Berlin manager Pal Dardai has reacted to Kevin-Prince Boateng’s fitness level.

The 34-year-old joined his boyhood club on a one-year deal in the summer and was expected to play a leadership role in the team considering the experienced gathered over the years.

But the former AC Milan and Barcelona star is yet to live up to expectation as the club continue to struggle in the German Bundesliga this season.

Boateng has struggled with fitness since the start of the season and has been involved in six games in all competitions. He is yet to score or assist a goal.

Hertha Berlin suffered a 2-1 defeat to Freiburg and are currently occupying 14th position with 6 points after 7 games.

The Ghanaian forward was replaced by Dennis Jastrzembsk after 59 minutes against Freiburg.

Speaking after their 2-1 defeat to Freiburg, the coach said, “Kevin either plays a good half or 60 minutes, that’s always the plan. And we knew that with him beforehand,” said Pal Dardai.

“Every game looks good for 20 minutes as long as Kevin has the strength. However, that is not enough for Hertha, which is already back in the basement.”
