Highly-rated Ghana referee Daniel Laryea selected for 2021 AFCON

Top Ghana referee, Daniel Nii Laryea has been selected by CAF to officiate at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to be staged in Cameroon.

The delayed tournament will finally come off next month with as many as 32 countries expected to battle for glory.

Ahead of the tournament, CAF has finalised the list of referees that will be handling matches.

In the list, footballghana.com can report that highly-rated Ghana referee Daniel Laryea is included.

He is the only referee from Ghana on the list after excelling in the past year handling matches on the continent.

The referee who is 34-years of age has established himself as the best from the West African country with his exploits in the CAF Confederations Cup and Champions League pushing him ahead of his peers.

Next months’ AFCON will commence on January 9 and will end on February 6, 2022.

Ghana’s Black Stars qualified for the 2021 AFCON and will aim to end a 40-year title drought in Cameroon.
