Ian Wright is surprised that no club has moved for Brighton's Tariq Lamptey

Tariq Lamptey has excelled for Brighton & Hove Albion since signing from Chelsea, and the full-back has been linked with moves to Premier League Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Ian Wright is surprised that no club attempted to sign Tariq Lamptey from Brighton during the January transfer window.

Since joining the Seagulls from Chelsea in the winter transfer window in 2020, the 21-year-old has excelled.

Lamptey has played 35 times for the Seagulls and scored one goal, drawing praise from manager Graham Potter, fans, and critics alike.

However, despite rumors that Brighton may collect about £50 million for the outstanding full-back if they want to sell him, a deal has yet to occur.

“You know what, I’ve heard a lot of Tottenham fans going crazy that they’re not going for Tariq Lamptey,” he told Wrighty’s House.

“I’m quite happy [they’ve not signed him] as well because I literally cannot believe no-one has tried to prise that man out of Brighton!”

Lamptey has played 16 games for Brighton this season after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for more than 10 months.
