Incoming Ghana coach Chris Hughton expected to start team rebuilding immediately after his appointment

Incoming Black Stars coach Chris Hughton is expected to start his team rebuilding immediately after his appointment.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are in search of a new coach for national team following the sacking of Serbian gaffer Milovan Rajevac after an abysmal performance at the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.

Ghana exited the tournament from the group stage following a poor run of results including losses to Morocco (1-0); Comoros (3-2) and a 1-1 draw with Gabon.

Initially, there were controversies as to who becomes the next Black Stars coach. Government were interested in Chris Hughton whereas the Ghana FA wanted Otto Addo in the interim.

After series of meetings, both arrive at a point and have therefore settled on the former Brighton boss to take over from Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac.

The Irish-born trainer has been in Ghana over the past few days as he prepares to takeover over the job.

He is expected to start his team rebuilding ones his appointment is confirmed by the Ghana FA.

Hughton has already met the father of Chelsea Star Callum Hudson-Odoi in his quest to convince the English-born to switch nationality and play for the Black Stars.

He is expected to meet other foreign players including Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu who are reluctant to play for the Black Stars.
