It’s a pity Osimhen won’t be at the Nations Cup – Agustin Eguavoen
Nigeria’s coach Agustin Eguavoen has stated that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen did everything to be fit for the tournament and it was a tough decision to exclude him.
Speaking after his squad’s first training activities, Agustin Eguavoen expressed regret that the Eagles will lose his goal-scoring abilities, but he maintains the player would be with the team in spirit.
“It’s a pity he won’t be at the Nations Cup but he told me he would be with us in Spirit, he practically pleaded with me and I could see the reasons, we tried for like hours speaking about it but his health comes first,”
“We want him on the pitch doing what he knows how to do best scoring goals and also hustling down players but when we spoke yesterday (Thursday) he was so disappointed, he said coach I love to go but you have to understand with me, I am not ok and I didn’t want to go and not give me best,” Eguavoen added.
