Jarell Quansah: 18-year-old Ghana-born defender makes first appearance in Liverpool squad

Ghanaian teenager Jarell Quansah appeared in a Premier League matchday squad for the first time in Liverpool’s away game against Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday.

The 18-year-old defender was named among Jurgen Klopp’s substitutes due to the absence of some key players in the Reds team.

Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara have all tested positive for Covid-19 and were unable to travel with the team for the crucial game against Tottenham.

However, the German trainer called on the Ghanaian teenage sensation who plays for the club’s U-23 side for the match.

Quansah, born in Warrington, signed a professional deal with the Reds in February after making an impression in the Youth Cup.
