Joseph Paintsil on the scoresheet in KRC Genk draw 1-1 with Groningen
On Saturday afternoon KRC Genk drew 1-1 with Groningen, the former Tema Youth player Joseph Paintsil came off the bench to score his team’s only goal.
In a pre-season friendly game ahead of the 2021/2022 season Genk faced a formidable Groningen side, the Ghanaian international was a second-half substitute who scored the only goal for his team in a 1-1 draw.
After 19 minutes of play in the end-to-end encounter, FC Groningen’s Michael de Leeuw scored to give his club a 1-0 lead that lasted for almost an hour of sport between the two teams.
Genk’s substitutes in the second half performed very well and immediately the pressure switched to FC Groningen as Genk poured men forward.
Substitute Joseph Paintsil scored Genk’s only goal in the 6th minute of the game to draw Genk level.
Both teams couldn’t take their chances and the game ended 1-1.
Joseph Paintsil joined Genk for three million euros in August 2018.
