Juliet Bawuah quits Media General

2021 Sport Journalist of the Year and Group Head of Sport at Media General, Ms Juliet Bawuah has tendered in her resignation after a decade of a successful career with the media organization

A statement shared on her Facebook and sighted by GhanaPlus.com said she resigned on January 16, this year and described her time with the organization as a successful professional journey.

On Monday 16th January, 2023 I resigned from my role as Group head of sport at media general (T3 and others)

It is a end of another successful professional journey,” her statement reads.

Ms Bawuah was grateful for the support she endured as a team lead and thanked all for making his stay and most importantly his job as the team lead successful.

“Thank you all for the immerse support during my tenure as team lead”.

 Media General’s Juliet Bawuah resigns

Ms Juliet Bawuah joined Media General’s TV3 in the year 2013 and has since become a household name in Ghana and a force to reckon with in the sport journalism fraternity.

She rose through the ranks to head the stations sport department as the Group Head of Sport, wining several accolades in her ten year professional journey with the media organization, including the coveted GJA Journalist of the Year Award.

She proudly and successfully led the station’s team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and worked with international media stations, BBC and Super Sport while there.

Before joining TV3 she worked in notable media stations such as Citi FM, Metro TV and ETV.

Others were Globe Newspaper, Cafonline.com and Goal.com.

Education International jobs and Achievements

Ms Bawuah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Ghana’s premier Communication and Journalism institution, Ghana Institute of Journalism, now University of Media Arts and Communication (UniMAC), a Diploma in Communication Studies from the African University College of Communications and a Master’s degree in International Public Relations and Global Communications at Cardiff University.

She is also an alumina of  Radio Netherlands Training Center in the Netherlands.

In 2017, Ms Bawuah worked with Congo based media organization Africannews as host of Football Planet and covered the AFCON tournament.

She has appeared on BBC and contributed for the Turkish broadcaster TRT as well.

On the national front, Ms Bawauh is the founder of the  Africa Women’s Sports Summit, a gathering of Africa’s leading female sports names and aspiring ones first held in 2019 in Accra and a member of the Women’s Premier League Super Cup’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

Internationally, she was part of the panel of voting experts for the African Football of the Year Awards by the Confederation of African Football in 2017.

She was also a member of the voting panel for the BBC African Footballer of the Year, one of the most respected schemes in the football world and among 49 African journalists that made up the voting panel of the maiden edition of the ‘Africa Football Shop Player of the Year Award.

The renowned sport journalist was awarded the 2022 Journalist of the Year at the 47th edition of Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards just last month and African Woman in Sport award at the GSport Award in the year 2021.
