Kumasi Cornerstone drops to Division Three

Kumasi Cornerstone has dropped to Ghana League Division 3 with one game remaining in the season.

Following a 1-1 draw away to Prof Quarm in matchday 13 on Thursday, the former heavyweight team was relegated from Ghana’s National Division Two League, to the National Division Three League.

Kumasi Cornerstone is presently ranked last in Zone 5 with 8 points, four points behind the seventh-place club with one game remaining.

Corners was a powerhouse in Ghana football in the 1970s and 1980s, producing many famous Ghanaian players such as Razak Golden Boy, Stephen Frimpong Manso, Emmanuel Amoah, and Sampson Appiah, to name a few.

The team won the WAFU Cup in 1987 and has struggled to return to the Premiership since their relegation to the First Division in the late 1990s.

Due to bad administration, they were relegated to the Division Two League in 2016.

After just winning one game in 13 matches, the team was relegated to the fourth division League five years later.
