'Leave him alone' - Kojo Addae-Mensah to Kurt's defence

The Group Chief Executive of Databank Kojo Addae-Mensah has jumped to the defence of GFA President Kurt Okraku following calls for his resignation by a section of the public.

The calls follow the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon.

The West African giant exited the competition at the group stage with just a point to record the worse performance of the Black Stars at the tournament.

Due to that, the young and visionary GFA President has come under huge pressure from a section of the media, calling for his resignation following Ghana’s disgrace at the tournament.

But influential football enthusiast Kojo Addae-Mensah has called on the ‘Kurt must resign’ campaigners to stop their chants.

Addae-Mensah insists the performance of the Black Stars isn’t a yardstick to call for the head of Kurt Okraku.

“I don’t think Kurt should resign. He needs time to execute his mandate,” he told footballmadeinghana.com

“We need to allow young guys like him make mistakes and learn from them. But what I’ll call on him to do is to remain humble all the time,” he added.

He explained further that such a decision must always be left for the person to take either than that, the statutes of the FA must always be used as a guide in such circumstances.

“The decision to keep and change the FA president lies in the bosom of the Congress of the FA and not the Ghanaian public.”

Relating the situation to other institutions, Addae-Mensah argued that the general public has no power to dismiss the president of the Ghana BAR Association or the Ghana Medical Association even if they are messing up, hence the campaigners of ‘Kurt must resign’ should have a rethink.

Kurt was voted into office as the president of the Ghana football Association on 25th October 2019, and his short reign has seen massive improvement in the structural and administrative running of the association.
