Majeed Ashimeru explains his best match with the Mauves
Ghana’s Majeed Ashimeru sat down with dhnet.be for an interview that had him answer questions from his best game, supporters and not named in Ghana’s Afcon squad.
As a storm hit Lotto Park, Majeed Ashimeru came to give an interview in a shirt and blazer.
You must hate this weather, Majeed.
You charmed the supporters this Sunday. They cheered you on in the stadium and complimented you on social media.
“Thank you. Anderlecht fans don’t know the real Ashimeru. They haven’t seen much from me yet. It was very important to show me. I felt their support during the match. I didn’t haven’t checked my phone yet. Tonight, I’m going to watch the reactions on the networks.”
Was it your best game since you joined Anderlecht?
“I still prefer my game at Antwerp last season, because I scored a goal. But it’s clear that I’m happy with my game. I even had cramps at the end of the game .”
It must have been frustrating to start on the bench so often.
“It was tough, yes. Of course I wanted to play more. But the team comes first. I’m here to help, in any role. And honestly, I didn’t feel so good in my skin, a while ago. Now it’s much better.”
Do you believe you have convinced Kompany to prefer you to Olsson?
“I don’t know. I did what I had to. It’s up to the coach to decide. Kristoffer and I have a different style.”
Do you think you were at fault for the goal conceded?
“I don’t know. It’s a collective error. I was a bit down but my teammates cheered me up.”
No regrets not having been selected for the Can with Ghana?
“I was the one who told the national team coach that I was not mentally ready, as I was not playing at Anderlecht.”
