Mali has received a boost in World Cup qualification
Mali’s attempt to qualify for the World Cup has been boosted when they were granted permission to host the opening leg of their playoff against Tunisia in Bamako.
Mali was refused access to their home stadiums during the group stage of the qualifications last year after the CAF deemed them inadequate for international usage.
Despite having to relocate all of their home qualifications to Morocco, they finished first in their group and advanced to the final stage of the African qualifiers.
Following renovations to the stadium in Bamako, the venue has been approved for use for the first leg of the playoff versus Tunisia on March 25, FIFA said on Monday.
Four days later, the return match will be played in Tunis, with the aggregate winner qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal will host Egypt in the return leg of their match on March 29 at their new Diamniadio Olympic Stadium in Dakar.
