Asante Kotoko and Liberty Professionals have all to play for when they face off against each other on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko currently sit top of the pile on the GPL standings and will want to consolidate their position with a positive result against Liberty.

They travel to Sogapoke for this Match Week 25 encounter on the back of a three match win streak. Coach Mariano Barreto’s side have beaten Legon Cities, Dreams FC and Ebusua Dwarfs. This came after a painful home defeat to Medeama SC.

One player who has proven key along this four game stretch is Emmanuel Gyamfi. The Kotoko attacker has netted 3 goals in his last four games and is currently the most in-form player in the club.

Aside Gyamfi, the likes of Augustine Okrah, Michael Vinicius, Francis Andy Kumi and top defender Ismail Ganiyu have all been on target for Kotoko. This development illustrates how much the goal burden has been distributed across board in the team.

Kotoko’s away performance in the league reads, 5 wins, 6 draws and 1 defeat, making them the best away team this far with 21 points amassed. With 5 goals conceded on the road, The Porcupine Warriors also hold the record as the best defensive side in the top flight.

After winning three matches on the bounce, Liberty Professionals’ survival bid has suffered somewhat a blow. The last three games has seen the Scientific Soccer Lads drawing one and losing 2. They have however not lost at home since moving their games to Sogakope with a record of 3 wins and a draw in 4 matches.

They know well they need to keep this run going, if they are to beat the drop at the end of the campaign as they currently sit 16th on the table on 25 points.

A win or a draw will see them move outside of the relegation zone for now depending on other results.

The match is scheduled for the Red Bull arena at Sogakope will be shown live on StarTimes Adepa Channel 247 at 3pm GMT.
