Match preview: Wounded Sharks host inspired Olympics in Elmina

Published

on

Two sides with completely different ambitions will face off in Elmina on Sunday for week 31 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

With just 4 games left to play, clubs are running out of time to achieve their goals for the season and both Elmina Sharks and Accra Great Olympics are no different.

The latter were able to reclaim their spot in the top 4 after their victory over Bechem United in week 30 was complemented by the defeats suffered by Medeama and Karela FC.

Annor Walker’s side will be high on motivation, knowing that a win could boost their chances of staying in the top positions.

Their host, however, suffered a huge blow in week 30, following the 2-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Berekum Chelsea on the road.

The defeat has placed them in a precarious position, as a drop in points will see them drop into the relegation zone.

Sharks vs Olympics: What does the stats say?

This certainly is not a meeting of two inform clubs, with both Sharks and Olympics not in their best shape.

Both clubs do not rank among the top 9 sides in the league in terms of form (in the last six games).

Olympics are the better of the two as they are placed 10th,  against Elmina Sharks’ 18th.

In their last six games, Olympics have recorded an even number of wins (2), draws, (2) and losses.

Their opponent, on the other hand, have lost 4 of their last 6 games, losing one and drawing the other.

They thus have a Point Per Game PPG of 0.67 in their last 6 games as compared to Olympics’ 1.33.

Elmina Sharks will however be counting on their home form which has not been extremely bad, having recorded a PPG of 1.93 all season.
