Match Report: Asante Kotoko 2-0 Berekum Chelsea- Porcupines win to go top of GPL

Asante Kotoko cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea on match day 19 of the Ghana Premier League at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium Sunday.

Francis Andy Kumi broke the deadlock in the 27th minute after shrugging off a challenge to slot home the opener.

The Bibires probed for equalizer but a resolute Kotoko rare guard kept them at bay and ensured they went into the break with their lead intact.

Chelsea were awarded a penalty two minutes into the second half after a foul in the box by Mubarik Yussif .

But Bright Amponsah sent the resulting kick flying into the stands to the relief of the Kotoko players.

The Porcupine Warriors grew in confidence from then on and sealed the win in stoppage time courtesy of Godfred Asiamah’s sensational strike.

The win takes Asante Kotoko to the top of the League table with 34 points after 19 matches in the League.
