Match Report : Hearts 2-1 Kotoko- Patrick Razak scores winner as Phobians win President Cup
Hearts of Oak defeated sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko by 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to clinch their fifth President Cup title.
Two second half goals from Afriyie Barnie and Patrick Razak handed the Phobians a sweet victory at the Accra Sports Stadium.
It was Hearts who started the game very well but couldn’t create any chance.
Frank Mbella had the first chance of the game for Kotoko but his effort went side netting for a goalkick.
Richmond Lamptey also saw his header went off for a goal kick.
Sulley Muntari on the 39th minute forced Danlad Ibrahim to make a good save following his wonderful free kick.
No goals was scored in the first half as both teams kept it tight at the back.
The Phobians returned from recess looking to draw the first blood.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh broke the deadlock of the game with a fine finish after Kotoko defense failed to clear a cross from Fatawu Mohammed.
It could have been 2-0 few minutes later but Danlad Ibrahim did well to stop Obeng Junior’s header.
Asante Kotoko finally got back on level on the 75th minute after substitute Samuel Boateng nipped on a mistake from Robert Addo but his shot ricochet the body of Mohammed Alhassan to get into the net.
Hearts snatched the winner in the die embers of the game following a swift counter attack from Patrick Razak.
The substitute scored on the 88th minute after making a great serging run to go round goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.
Hearts maintained their lead untill the blast of the final whistle.
