Milovan Rajevac opens up on relationship with Black Stars players in first stint
Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has revealed he had a great relationship with Black Stars player during his first spell with the national team.
The Serbian trainer took charge of the Black Stars between 2008 and 2010 and made history with the team.
Rajevac, in his first reign as Ghana’s coach, was named African Coach of the Year in 2010 after impressive outings at the AFCON and World Cup respectively.
He made history by leading the Black Stars in 2010 to reach the quarter-finals at the World Cup in South Africa.
Few months earlier, he led Ghana through to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Angola in which they fell to Egypt.
Having returned for a second spell, the 67-year-old has disclosed a great relationship and mutual understanding with the players at the time.
“We really had a great relationship, mutual understanding and a very nice communication”
“I managed to set up the team with big stars playing in big teams and also some young promising talents who proved themselves, some were good at the U-20 and won the World Cup and later introduced into the first team so many players really made their name Kwadwo Asamoah, Vorsah, Dede Ayew, Samuel Inkoom, Opoku Agyemang. Kelvin Prince Boateng joined us for the World Cup”
“So definitely I managed to set up a mixture of experienced and young players and this was the perfect combination for the success. This made the team ready for the next World Cup after 2010. This was a beautiful generation of players and I was privileged to have the ability to work with them in the past” he said.
