NFF plans to question coach Augustine Eguavoen on call-ups for Ghana clash
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to query head coach Augustine Eguavoen on his latest national team call-up for the upcoming world cup qualifying matches.
Later this month, the Super Eagles will take on the Black Stars in what will be the final clash to fight for a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 25-man squad has some players from the team that played at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament dropped.
Meanwhile, a few new additions have been made to bolster the squad for the Ghana showdown.
In an interview, a close source to the NFF has disclosed that the body plans to demand answers from Augustine Eguavoen on his options.
“As usual, the NFF didn’t interfere in the list as a body, hence we can ask questions about one or two players. The media too can do same. We are particularly concerned about the case of Onazi and we will demand an explanation and look into some allegations on the call up. It’s just normal for us,” he told owngoalnigeria.com.
Among the players invited, there have been questions raised on the inclusion of midfielder Ogenyi Onazi and striker Odion Ighalo.
