OFFICIAL : Ghanaian forward Abdul Aziz Yakubu joins Portuguese side Rio Ave FC
Ghanaian attacker Abdul Aziz Yakubu has completed a move to Portuguese second tier side Rio Ave ahead of the 2021/2022 season.
The attacker has signed one-year deal with the club after fruitful negotiation.
He will be leading the attack for the club after scoring 15 goals for Estoril Praia last season.
The club announced his acquisition on their official website.
“One of the best scorers of the last edition of Liga 2 signed for Rio Ave FC and is the reinforcement of Luís Freire’s team’s attack for the 2021/2022 season.
He is a well-known name in the second division, who distinguished himself in the service of Estoril, became champion of League 2 and scored 15 goals during the previous season.
We are, of course, talking about Abdul-Aziz Yakubu, a Ghanaian striker, ex-Vitória Sport Clube, with whom Rio Ave FC reached an agreement for a one-season contract.
Fast, with his sights tuned to the opposing goals, Aziz is recognized as one of the best scorers of the last seasons of Liga 2. He arrived in Portugal for Vizela’s juniors, in 2016, but it was for Vitória Sport Clube ‘B’ that he distinguished himself in the second tier. , by scoring 11 goals in his debut year, on 18/19.
He regained that status in 2020/2021, where, working for Estoril, he scored 15 times, contributing decisively to the title of champion of his team and to a remarkable journey in the Cup of Portugal, only fought in the semi-finals by SL Benfica.
Aziz is already training with his new teammates and is available to Luís Freire to attack an intense season with big goals.
