Osei Bonsu reflects on his impressive campaign for FC Caracas ahead of cup final against Deportivo in Venezuela

Former Bechem United attacker Kwaku Osei Bonsu will be hoping to conquer his first league trophy abroad when FC Caracas take on Deportivo Tachira in the final of the Venezuela Primera League tomorrow.

Bonsu scored for goals and contributed five assists in nine games during the play-off.  The 21-year-old is buoyed up by his recent performances ahead of Saturday’s final.

“I thank God that we’ve made it to the finals. The Venezuela league is very competitive. It’s not to consistently impose your game on opponents. I’m extremely delighted to have contributed significantly to our qualification to the final,” he said.

Kwasu Osei is relishing the opportunity to win his first trophy after joining FC Caracas in January 2020 from Senica. The right-winger believes the understanding between himself and Samson Akinyoola has been key in their ability to pick teams apart.

“We played in Slovakia so we know each other very well.  We’re the only two people here who speak English which makes things easy”

The two combined excellently to put four goals past Merida and Deportivo Lara in the last two games.

“Samson had a problem with a slight injury but I believe he’s ready for the final. With him on the field, there’s always an opportunity to record an assist or a find the back of the net.”
