Otto Addo gives Ghana its first win in six months after walloping Madagascar in AFCON qualifier

Ghana coach Otto Addo guided the Black Stars to win their first game in six months after beating Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ghana thumped Madagascar 3-0 at the Cape Coast stadium to go top of Group E after matchday 1 of the qualifiers.

Goals from Mohammed Kudus, Felix Afena-Gyan and Osman Bukari in the second half gave the Black Stars a deserving victory.

Before the Madagascar encounter, Ghana had not win any of their games since January 2022 but the talent development coach at Dortmund has lead the Black Stars to their first win in six months.

The Black Stars last won a game in 2021 when they defeated South Africa to secure play-off spot in the World Cup qualifiers.

Andre Ayew scored from the spot to hand Ghana victory over the Bafana Bafana.

Ghana failed to win any of their games at the AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon, losing two and drawing one as the Black Stars suffered early exit from the continental showpiece.

The four-time African Champions lost to Morocco and Comoros and also shared the spoils with Gabon at the AFCON 2021.

Before the AFCON, Ghana suffered a 3-0 defeat to Algeria in a warm up game to the tournament.

During the World Cup play-off, the West African powerhouse were unable to beat Nigeria in both legs but qualified for the mundial on an away goal rule.
