Qatar 2022 FIFA WC qualifiers: Ghana goes top of Group G after 1-0 win against Ethiopia
Ghana has grabbed the top spot of the Group G table of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after posting a nervy 1-0 win against Ethiopia on Friday night at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Prior to the contest at the Cape Coast Stadium this evening, other group opponents Zimbabwe and South Africa had drawn to share the spoils from their opening game.
Taking advantage of the chance provided after that outcome, Ghana today put up a strong challenge when the team hosted Ethiopia.
Although the Black Stars could not impress fans at the Stadium and Ghanaians that watched from home, the team still managed to get over the line with a win.
On the matchday, midfield powerhouse Mubarak Wakaso scored with a long range drive that went through the legs of the Ethiopia goalkeeper in hilarious fashion.
Holding on to the lead to win at the end of the 90 minutes, the Black Stars have managed to go top of Group C in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be hosted in Qatar next year.
