Qatar stadium for 2022 World Cup could end up in Mauritania

Stade 974, made entirely of 974 containers, will be one of the highlights of Qatar’s 2022 World Cup. This 40,000-seat structure, which is completely transportable, will be dismantled into one or more parts after the tournament and gratefully donated to one or more countries.

While Tunisia has been considered a prospective destination in recent months, journalist Lassana Camara reports on Wednesday that Mauritania would finally have the upper hand and should accommodate this stadium.

This information would not be surprising given Ahmed Yahya’s great network as president of the Mauritanian Federation and second vice-president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world, and it will be the second World Cup held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament was held in South Korea and Japan.

Stadium 974 will host seven matches during the global showpiece.
