Referee Daniel Laryea backed to deliver in Hearts-Kotoko title decider

Referee Daniel Laryea has been backed to deliver a solid performance in the all important Hearts of Oak vs Asante Kotoko clash this weekend.

The two biggest clubs go toe to toe on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium in a Ghana Premier League Match Week 31 encounter.

Both sides are currently occupying the top two positions on the league table. Hearts and Kotoko both on 56 points are only separated by goal difference with the former on top by virtue of that.

The game on Sunday has the potential to decide the destination of the league title as whoever wins grabs the advantage with 3 matches to go in its aftermath.

Talks about the game have included who is handed the game to officiate as referee. Yesterday, news broke than Daniel Laryea will be handed the role as center referee for the encounter with the news received with various reactions.

Referee Thomas Nunoo, who distinguished himself officiating games in and beyond Ghana believes the selection of Laryea is spot on.

Now retired, Thomas Nunoo is backing Daniel Laryea to give a good account of himself during the game and make the Ghanaian refereeing fraternity proud.

“It’s our number one referee who has been appointed to officiate the game. And this is Ghana’s number one game. So the appointment is in order,” he told Peace FM.

“His performances have been impressive, reason he has been appointed. I Pray the Almighty God to give him the courage and the strength to deliver a solid performance.

“This is the best game we can have as Ghanaians so they (referees) should make everyone proud. I have trust in him (Daniel Laryea) to put up the best because he’s seen it all. I encourage him and his team and wish them the best of luck in this game,” Thomas Nunoo added.

He also went further to caution fans against misconducting themselves during the game.

“I will also plead with the supporters who will go to the venue to also stay away from violent acts and support the game with joy,” he concluded.
