Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to meet again next month

Sadio Mane defeated Liverpool colleague Mohamed Salah in the Africa Cup of Nations final, but the Egyptian will get another chance to settle the score in a World Cup play-off shortly.

Egypt will face Mane-inspired Senegal at home and away in March, with a place in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on the line.
In the other play-offs, Ghana will face Nigeria, Cameroon will face Algeria, Mali will face Tunisia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will face Morocco.

The match between the Egyptian Pharaohs and the Senegalese Teranga Lions, though, will captivate the imagination, with Premier League stars Salah and Mane dominating the headlines.

Mane not only helped Senegal conquer Africa for the first time with a penalty shootout victory in Cameroon on Sunday, but he was also named the tournament’s best player.

The 29-year-old scored three of Senegal’s nine goals in seven matches and came back quickly from injury in a last-16 triumph against Cape Verde to motivate his squad.

In the final, he had an early penalty saved by Mohamed Abou Gabal, but he made amends by shooting the shot that won the shootout after 120 minutes of goalless play by the West Africans.
