SAFA refuse to involve CAF president Patrice Motsepe in protest case against Ghana

The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) has taken a stance not to involve CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe in the protest case against Ghana.

SAFA on Monday formally filed a complaint at FIFA seeking a replay of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ghana where the Bafana Bafana lost 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium.

According to SAFA president Danny Jordaan, there are no plans to involve CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to seek his assistance just because he is from South Africa.

“If the president was not from South Africa and was from another country, there would have never been a call to ask if we can’t go to the CAF president. We are not going to go to the CAF president, he must not get involved. We are a member of CAF, we are a member of Fifa and we can fight our battles,” the SAFA boss said at a press conference.

FIFA has taken up the protest and has set a week on next week for its Disciplinary Committee to begin hearing of the case.
