Salisu's mistake cost Southampton a win against Watford

On Sunday, Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu was on the field as Southampton lost 2-1 at home to Watford in the Premier League.

Cucho Hernandez’s double put the visitors ahead until Mohamed Elyounoussi equalized for the Saints in the matchweek 29 clash at St. Mary’s Stadium.

It was Southampton’s third straight league defeat, dropping the team to tenth place in the rankings.

Hernandez broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, capitalizing on a poor Salisu backpass to goalie Fraser Forster and slotting home at the near post.

Salisu played for the duration of the game and the win handed Watford a first victory against Southampton in the Premier League since September 2017.
