Samuel Eto’o compares Nigeria legend ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha to Ronaldinho
Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) President, Samuel Eto’o claims former Nigeria forward Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha was as talented as Brazilian great Ronaldinho.
Okocha played 73 times for the Nigeria national team between 1993 and 2006, scoring 14 times, and was a member of three FIFA World Cup squads.
He is regarded as one of the greatest football players from Africa, and was named as the best player to ever play for Bolton Wanderers Football Club at the Reebok/Macron Stadium.
“It’s the injustice of world football,” Eto’o said, as per Onvoitout.
“What we saw Ronaldinho do a few years ago, Jay-Jay (Okocha) had done 10 or 15 years before and he never had the recognition of others. And that’s what happens when it comes to Africa.”
The 48-year-old won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 with the Super Eagles and was became a key member of an arguably more successful Nigerian side, their Olympic gold winning side at the Atlanta Games in 1996.
