South Africa coach Hugo Broos feels proud after beating Ghana in World Cup qualifier

South Africa coach Hugo Broos feels proud beating Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the FnB stadium on Monday evening.

The Bafana Bafana inflicted a 1-0 win over the Black Stars courtesy, Bongokuhle Hlongwane strike in the dying embers of the game.

Speaking after the game, the 69-year old disclosed he feels proud defeating Ghana insisting there was the determination to win.

“I’m very proud and happy today with what I saw on the pitch of my team,” he said after the match.

“We have made big progress in one week. When I saw my team play in Zimbabwe there was no confidence, no determination, no belief in themselves, but I saw a team with lots of confidence today.

“We played a very good game. There was determination. There was the will to winning, there was discipline and that is what I like.

“We have four points from six now. A few days ago I said if we get four from six I’d be happy but I thought that we could win in Zimbabwe and play a draw against Ghana. But it’s the opposite now and I’m not unhappy about that.

“We will see, if we can go on like this and make progress like we did this week, we will see where are at the end of the race.”

South Africa moved to the top of Group G after two games.
