The Covid-19 jabs my players took affected us in the Karela game - AshGold coach Ernest Thompson

The head coach of Ashanti Gold SC, Ernest Thompson Quartey has blamed the side effects of the Covid-19 jabs for his team’s inability to beat Karela United last weekend.

The Miners last Sunday shared the spoils with the team from Anyinase in the matchday two encounter of the ongoing 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season.

Speaking to Happy FM after the game, Coach Ernest Thompson Quartey says his team’s performance was affected by the COVID-19 jabs players had taken.

“We were determined to grab out first home win this season, unfortunately for us we got a point from the game due to some reasons. We are not taking anything away from Karela, but the period at which we took the Covid jab put us at a disadvantage”, he said.

Coach Thompson added, “We struggled to keep up to the tempo of the game because we didn’t get enough rest to recover after the vaccination.”

The vocal coach and his team have four points from the first two matches of the league season.

According to him, the team will work hard to ensure they record a victory in the next game against King Faisal.
