U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier: Black Stars technical advisor Chris Hughton visits Black Maidens team ahead of Senegal clash

Black Stars technical advisor Chris Hughton has called on the Black Maidens ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

The Black Maidens of Ghana who are chasing their 7th World Cup qualification host Senegal in the return fixture today after a had fought 1-0 win at away weeks ago.

Ahead of the clash, the newly appointed Black Stars technical advisor has visited the Black Maidens to acquaint himself to Ghana football.

Highton was joined by the Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku and Executive Council Member, Nana Oduro Sarfo who double as the Black Maidens Management Committee Chairman.

The former Brighton manager is expected to team up with coach Otto Addo and the other two assistants’ coaches to secure qualification to the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.

Ghana will play the Super Eagles in a two-legged encounter on Friday with the winner securing one of the five slots on the African continent.

The first leg of the titanic qualifying tie will be played on March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium. Four days later, the two giants will meet again in Abuja with the aggregate winner qualifying for the tournament later this year.

The Black Stars will depart Accra to Kumasi on Tuesday to continue preparations for the Nigeria showdown.

Meanwhile, Chris Hughton has been tipped to be the next Ghana coach after the crucial World Cup play-off.

Black Stars Technical Advisor Chris Hugton wished the team the very best of luck on Sunday.

‘’It’s a pleasure for me to see you. At a young age, football was my passion and was lucky to have a long career to play professional football so I understand where you are now, the passion you have to play. I want to wish you the very best today and am sure you will give everything’’ he said.
