VfL Bochum boss explains Christopher Antwi-Adjei struggle at the club

VfL Bochum coach Thomas Reis has explained Ghanaian winger Christopher Antwi-Adjei difficult start to life at the club.

The 27-year-old who joined the Bundesliga outfit in the summer transfer window from Paderborn as a free agent after the expiration of his contract is yet to live up to expectation.

According to coach Thomas Reis, there are reasons for this, as he stated after the test match against Viktoria Köln this week.

“Tactically, he still has a lot of room for improvement,” explained the trainer, who also concluded that the 27-year-old had to be “braver” especially in the second part of the game, Antwi-Adjei did not cover himself with fame when a big chance was missed.

“If the goalkeeper is eight meters from the goal, you have to make a different decision in a one-on-one. With his dynamism he could have passed by, for example,” explained Reis.

Despite the deficits, the wing player, who played for 90 minutes against Cologne, could beckon a place in the starting XI against Leverkusen this weekend.

“We know what we have in him,” added the coach, who may have to do without the injured Danny Blum and Gerrit Holtmann against the Werkself.

He has assisted three goals in 10 appearances across all competitions in 440 minutes.
