Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia presents to Ghs 50,000 to Hasaacas Ladies for winning WAFU B Women’s CL trophy
Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has rewarded Hasaacas Ladies with an amount of Ghs 50,000 for winning the WAFU B Women’s Champions League trophy.
The Ghanaian champions defeated Rivers Angels FC of Nigeria 3-1 in the final to win the trophy after losing to the same opponent in the group stage.
By virtue of winning the title, Hasaacas Ladies have qualified to participate in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League tournament to be staged in Egypt in November this year.
“As a government, we are really committed to supporting our women in sports to realize their potential, both on and off the pitch,” Dr. Bawumia said when the team called on him at the Jubilee House.
“I spoke to the President and in recognition of this major honor you have done the country, I am on his behalf giving you 50,000 Ghana cedis.
“You have written your names in the history books by becoming the first team to win this competition and now we look forward to you replicating this performance in the next tournament in Egypt.
Alongside the coveted WAFU B title, Hasaacas won both the Ghana Women’s Premier League and Women’s FA Cup titles in the 2020/21 Football Season.
