Video: Senegal welcome players with massive street celebration
Senegal won their first African Cup of Nations on Sunday, and the Senegalese people celebrated in massive numbers.
Thousands flooded the streets of Dakar to greet the triumphant national team and celebrate their accomplishments following their penalty shootout victory over Egypt.
It had been a long time coming for the Senegalese, who had previously lost in the final twice and produced some major names in African football over the years.
Senegal President Macky Sall met Captain Kalidou Koulibaly as he got off of the squad plane. The squad then boarded a bus and proceeded to march throughout Dakar.
The majority of the players spent the most of the homecoming on top of the bus. Fortunately, it was moving slowly as Senegal fans rushed it in the streets.
Highly recommend you watch Koulibaly’s Instagram Story in full, but here’s a sample of it. Senegal being welcomed back to Dakar by thousands and thousands. What a sport pic.twitter.com/gJysEz4P0j
