WC qualifiers: Ati-Zigi, two other goalkeepers battle Richard Ofori for No. 1 spot in Ghana's team for Ethiopia game

There is tough competition in the goalkeeping department of the Black Stars as Ghana prepares to host Ethiopia in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ahead of the qualifiers, Ghana coach CK Akonnor last month invited a 30-man squad to camp including four top goalkeepers that have been in outstanding form.

Besides Richard Ofori who has been the preferred number one goalkeeper in recent years, there is also Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah who helped his team to win the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup title last season.

In addition, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Manaf Nurudeen based in Switzerland and Belgium are the two other goalkeepers invited for the international assignment.

Since Monday, these four goalkeepers have been training in camp under coach CK Akonnor and his technical team.

Although it is likely Richard Ofori will be in post tomorrow for the Ethiopia game, sources have revealed that the competition has been tough from the other goalkeepers in camp and it should not come as a surprise if any of the them is given the nod.
