WCQ 2022: Wakaso powers Ghana to top of Group G with solitary strike against Ethiopia
Ghana has been fired to the top of the Group G in the 2022 World Cup Qualifier following a solitary strike by Mubarak Wakaso on Friday evening.
The experienced midfielder unleashed a thunderous strike in the 35th minute of the game which slipped through the legs of goalkeeper Balcha Shanko to give Ghana the winner.
Shanko was eventually substituted in the second half following some jittery displays in the game.
The win against Ethiopia has pushed Ghana to the top of the table following a 0-0 stalemate in the other group game between Zimbabwe and South Africa earlier today.
The Black Stars will trek to South Africa to take on the Bafana Bafana on Monday in the second group game of the qualifiers.
A win in that game will consolidate Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup to be hosted in Qatar next year.
