We want to prove a point against WAC – Emmanuel Nettey
Hearts of Oak will host Wydad Athletic Club in the opening round of the playoffs to the group stage of the 2021/22 Caf Champions League on Sunday, Emmanuel Nettey says they hope to prove a point to the rest of Africa.
The Ghana Premier League champions qualified for this stage by defeating CI Kamsar to seal their place against the Moroccan champions.
The Phobians will be playing in front of 2,000 supporters at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
However, given their extended absence from participation and their opponents’ success in continental championships, the Moroccans are tipped as favourites.
“We are going out there all guns blazing,” said Nettey
“We know we have been out of the competition for a very long time,”
“We are back and we want to prove a point, not just that but to the whole of Africa that we did not make the progression by fluke,” he ended.
